In Frederick Forsyth's Boxing Day column it was incorrectly stated that Mr Winner had been able to buy his mansion and to take lavish holidays because he had inherited a fortune from his mother. We are happy to make clear that when he bought his house in 1971 he was a successful film maker and both his parents were still alive.
When Mr Winner's mother died in 1984 he was left very little. Our apologies to Mr Winner.
